Expansion
Well Versed Xpressionz is expanding. Individually and collectively as an organization we are reaching higher heights, digging deeper depths, and growing closer day by day. Of course, growth is expected but it still is a surprise. Especially when so many around us remain stagnate.
More and more our members proclaim that WVX keeps them grounded. More and more it is evident how an organization can do more than raise money and make friends. We can inspire, we can encourage, we can thrive...together. Will you take part in our expansion?

It's Only Fair...

As writers, we take from the world. We take from our experiences AND the experiences of others in the world. Perhaps "take" is the wrong word to use...but for right now it will do.
We look up at a dark, yet brightened midnight sky and we take from it. We take it and then weave that glorious sky into words that we then place onto a sheet of paper. We endure a tumultuous relationship and we take that experience and transform it into an art form that can hardly be compared to any other.
The very words that we use "take" from the world. The very vocabulary that exists within us is a product of the world, the environment, that we live in. To better express what we mean by "take" let us switch the word with "inspire."
We look up at a dark, yet brightened midnight sky and we are inspired by it. We use that inspiration to weave that sky into something tangible, something more attainable. We, as writers, go through a rough relationship and we are inspired to take that experience and make into into something beautiful. Something...relatable, yet...personal.
To take, at times insinuates force...but also if something is given freely, we still take it. So take can be both gentle and forceful, both given and stolen. However, the word take overlooks another very important thing that writers do. We not only take, we give back. This is why the term "inspiration" or more specifically, the verb "inspire" is the better word to use.
The world inspires us, and we then take it upon ourselves to inspire the world. Its only fair. We see something in society, in nature, in our environment and we write about it, practice it, memorize it and then we give it back to you on stage and this furthers this great transaction by inspiring the people who witness our words. And even if we fail to "inspire" them by definition we at least inspire them by provocation. We inspire them to think, to challenge any idea that we may pose to them. The audience doesn't have to simply accept it, though that is within their rights. They can also be opposed to it. These transactions between the "world" and us, between us and the world, between the audience and us, is the inspiration that is only fair.
To sum all of these thoughts into one phrase: "The world inspires us, therefore IT'S ONLY FAIR that we inspire the world."

This Is Not A Competition
It seems that some people have gotten us confused. Well Versed Xpressionz is not a competitive organization. We are an organization dedicated to lifting fellow poets up and not bringing them down, encouraging them to better themselves, and not feel BETTER than anyone else. We have a common goal: to let our voices be heard, to speak about the unspeakable, to inform, enlighten, and educate. We are Well Versed Xpressionz.
If anyone is confused about any of this they can send us an email at wvxpoets@gmail.com. The only competition that any member of WVX has is the competition of bettering oneself. The only person you have to beat is you, as an individual, not your peer. We do not do this for a pat on the back we do this for the fulfillment of being heard.
Prolifically we WRITE
Profoundly we VERBALIZE
Prophetically we XPRESS
We are WELL VERSED XPRESSIONZ!

Prospective members will have to:
a] Come to one of the following interest meetings held on February 3, 2009 or February 10, 2009 in the EUC Maple Room located on the campus of UNCG. The time will be 5PM sharp. Tardiness is not a desirable trait for prospective members so please be on time.

d] Positive attitudes are treasured here so be sure to bring that as well
e] Confidence. This will of course build throughout the semester but bring it with you to the meeting because it will be helpful
