Final Meeting-CATHARSIS

At least once every semester WVX likes to give all of its members a chance to just release [via poetry or random talk] whatever is on their mind, in their heart, or from their past. Its a very freeing experience and it puts everyone in a certain vulnerability that is rather empowering. From the officers to the members we wear our hearts on our sleeves for about three minutes. Everything stays in one room, sometimes tears are shed, laughs are shared, smiles are exchanged, and understanding is given amongst our fellow poets. Our final meeting was a good one and we are thankful for the FAITHFUL members that came out for it. Be prepared for next semester when we come at you with EMOTIONZ UNLEASED and many more!! Its going to be a mass catharsis like no other. Here are a few photos from the final meeting.

GX Presents...

The Accusation, The Trial, The Breakout!

On Saturday, November 22, 2008, UNCG's own Generation X step team hosted one of the best programs I have seen on UNCG's campus. They invited many organizations to their event including Well Versed Xpressionz. We were honored to be a part of such an amazing event. We look forward to see what GX is going to bring to UNCG and WVX as well.

The Lounge-Hope

Hope, a new recording artist whose song "Who Am I to Say" was featured on Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married." Hope asked an audience member to the stage to sing with her and the lucky soul who was volunteered for the honor was Milana, a faithful member of the NBS Gospel Choir. This is a clip of the moment.

The Lounge

WVX is excited to attend "The Lounge" sponsored by UNCG's CAB! The dynamic Shihan and other def jam poets will be showing us how to do it. We will NOT be performing but, trust, we will be taking notes.

We encourage you all to attend "The Lounge" on Thursday, Oct 30, 2008. Most of WVX will be there and I am sure that many fellow poet appreciators will be there as well.

To get a taste of what to look forward you can find Shihan on youtube. "This Type Love" is a poem that anyone can identify with. Check it out! One day it will be us!

Out of the Element-October 9th, 2008

Our first even of Fall 2008 went very well! Spartan Force was featured in our program and we appreciate their assistance in making OTE a success. Everyone did a great job-from content to performance. There is only one way to go now and that is up. We would also like to thank EVERYONE who came out for OTE and showed your support and encouraged us to continue to come back to you all.

WVX has currently has 15 active members. Each of us have our own style, our own voice, our own special something and we bring it together to create well versed expression. With that said, we want all of you to keep it out of the element as well and here is how you can do that *clears throat*

"Change your HEART
Change your MIND
Change your FUTURE
Now is the time
Out with tradition
This is our mission
Time our for settlement
OUT OF THE ELEMENT!!"
